Willy Lott’s Cottage, Flatford, Suffolk
The Cottage looks much as it did when John Constable painted it 200 years ago. What has changed are the trees. Today Ash and Oak predominate, whereas in Constable’s day the Suffolk countryside was characterised by English Elms, which tragically succumbed to Dutch Elm Disease in the 1970s.
